St Andrew's Catholic Church - Wee Waa

A Christian Parish Community in the Roman Catholic Tradition

The Parish of St Andrew's Wee Waa can trace its earliest foundation in 1839 when the first Irish Catholics both convicts and free settlers arrived in the region. A priest from Singleton NSW (about 586 kms from Wee Waa) ministered to the spiritual needs of the community from 1848 to 1853 and later administered by Fr McCarthy of Armidale NSW (324 kms) from 1859.

Wee Waa became a parish of its own right in 1893. The foundation stone of the present brick church was laid on 4 August 1957 and the church was finally opened and blessed on 11 May 1958.
